Huh?

Saw this as I was leaving the grocery store yesterday.

What was she thinking?

She did manage to not hit the white car, but the front of her car was a bit smashed…

Two down, at least two to go

Monday, April 18th, 2005

Spring time. Of course this brings back the “pests” that like to dig holes in my yard. Some kind of ground squirl has taken up trying to make homes in my front yard. Sure wish they would just go away. I am slowly dealing with the problem. Let’s just say that two of them are now busy being hole filler and won’t be creating any new ones. :) I know there are at least 2 more out there yet. *sigh* It just takes patience, a hose, a plastic bag the newspapers come in and a 2×4 to take care of the problem. I will leave the rest of the details to your imagination…

It’s time to get the lawn mower out tonight after I get home from work. Sure hope it starts up. Of course I would have to wait until the warmest day of the year to get out and mow the lawn - projected high of 80 today. Oh well.

E-mail overload

Wednesday, April 13th, 2005

Well, I think I am starting to get crushed with the proverbial information overload. I swear I spend more time in a day dealing with e-mail than I probably should. Sure, there is some time spent at work dealing with personal e-mail, but I am sure I spend just as much time (if not more) dealing with work e-mail when I am at home.

I think the average number of messages I get a day has gone up. And I am not really counting spam in that (which is about 50% or more of my in box) as the vast majority of spam is just filtered out of my in box and I never see it.

For example, last night I completely ignored my computers and e-mail after supper. This morning there were another 30+ messages waiting in my in box. That doesn’t include any of the dozens of messages from various system reporting tools or mailing lists that I am subscribed to.

Sure, e-mail can help improve communication, and is often preferred as it lets us respond on our own time frame. Maybe its time for me to use up more of those cell phone minutes instead of resorting to sending more e-mail.

More Pictures Posted

This past weekend I was out at our church’s camp. I had a chance to try and do some night photography. This was my first time trying something like this, and it turned out fairly well for not knowing what I was doing. I did discover that taking an exposure longer than 30 seconds resulted in the stars leaving a trail as the earth turns.

The pictures are here.

Busy week again

Friday, April 8th, 2005

Ah, yet another busy week in my life. There are a few times this week where I really wanted to be in two places at once. If anyone ever finds a solution to that problem, please let me know. :)

From the looks of things, I will be heading out to our church’s camp for the night to help out with the confirmation youth retreat. There is also a youth lockin at the church tonight as well, but I was told that I don’t need to be present. With the weather forcast as it is, I would much rather spend the time outside than sleeping to recover from being up all night. ;)
